Logo Design Process

Consultation Stage

My consultation is free with no strings attached. Shoot me an email and I can help guide you through the process of filling out a design brief to effectively communicate what you need done! Below is an interactive form to move you forward through the process if you would like to get started now. If you have any questions just ask! I pride myself in my ability to guide as well as design a logo to best suit your business needs and your target audience.

By using this form below you are agreeing to the terms located on the contact page

Filling this out should take about 20-30 minutes

This is the first and most important step in getting anything designed. Please fill this out as accurately and fully as possible. You may use N/A for questions that do not apply; if required questions are not answered the form will not submit. If you do not take this brief seriously the final result will suffer because of it.

• Why do you want a new logo? What do you want your new logo to accomplish? This question helps to understand the problem.

• Who are your main competitors? (At least one required)

• How are you different from your competitors? (What about your company makes you unique)

• What product(s) or service(s) do your business provide?

• Are there any inspiring visuals associated with your business?

• Where do you see your business/service in 5 years time?

• What’s the target demographic for your customer base? (age, race, religion, gender, income level, family size, occupation, education level and marital status are all good examples of a well thought out demographic)

• Do you have a tag line? If so, would you like it stated along side your logo?

• Do you have any specific imagery in mind for your logo?

• Do you have any color preferences, or existing brand colors?

• Do you have any colors that you do not wish to use?

• What adjectives should best describe your logo? (At least 3; more is better)

• What feeling or message do you want your logo to convey to those who view it?

• How do you prefer your logo to be worded or written out?

• Where will you logo be used? Where will it primarily be used?

• What’s your preferred deadline, time frame or exact date of completion?

• Would you like any addition design services to be packaged with your new logo?

• Generally, what logos or brands do you think will appeal to your audience and why? Here you can link to specific logos that you think would match the TARGET AUDIENCE that you are aiming at. This should have a link to a logo + a message if you'd like to point out what specifically about the logo you like. (2 required; more is better)

• Your design preference likes/dislikes or expectations

• Any additional comments?

Sketching Stage

In the sketching stage I will sketch anywhere between 20 and 40 different designs. Decide which designs best fit the design brief and move forward onto the next step

Illustration Stage

In this stage I develop the logos I chose from the sketches into vector artwork. This artwork will be rendered out into whatever file types or sizes that you need free of charge.

All of the logos I develop are made in Illustrator CC. Deliverables should be agreed upon upfront. Vector (source) artwork is not included in any plans and is priced on a per-job basis. Any graphics utilizing the vectored files will be delivered in raster format.

Presentation Stage

In this stage I will render out the logos into mockup form to give my clients a better feel for what their logo would look like in a real life setting. If you have any specific items you plan on using your logo on then please specify in the consultation process so the mockups may match what you're having made. (ie. Business Cards, Banners, Posters, etc)

Revision Stage

Presentation stage in most cases should be the last stage of a project. If you have any revisions that you would like to have done I'm more than happy to do them! However keep in mind that any and all revisions will have an effect, whether it be good or bad, on my professional target-audience-focused developed logo for your business. A lot of thought and planning goes into each and every detail of every logo I produce and going outside of that process may deter your target audience.

Finalization Stage

In this stage I finalize the logo to be print-ready and double check that all attributes for what I consider a technically sound logo are present and accounted for. This stage is to ensure quality control and consistency. After this stage the vector logo should be print ready for any printer you need to send the vector work to.
